It may seem like a lot of weight to lose in 5 days but it is possible. The reason I know it’s possible is because I did it. Of course losing 5 pounds in 5 days is tough but I did it to kick start my healthy lifestyle plan.

You can do this too if you want to shed some weight for a special occasion or if you want to kick start your weight loss program. I have to say from the outset that you need to be committed to the eating plan, the exercise plan and the mindset. Your life is going to change in the 5 days and you will never look back.
Are you ready to accept this challenge? Then let’s go…
I’m no expert – I have to say that I’m not a health professional nor a dietitian, you should consult your doctor if you are considering undertaking this challenge.
I would also add that this is solely based on my personal experience with weight loss. I did not follow any preset plan but worked out a plan for myself. Please note that you may lose up to 5 pounds or you may lose more.
Motivation to lose 5 pounds in 5 days : Getting Your Head in the Right Space
Before I started on this weight loss journey I thought long and hard about my why. Why did I want to lose weight? How was I going to lose weight? What were my current habits? How could I introduce new habits? How would I feel if I didn’t lose as much weight as I thought I should be losing?
It was then that I realized I had to change the way I was thinking about my weight loss journey.
Before when I have embarked on losing weight it was always about the strict rules and unrealistic expectations that while I would have stuck to it for a few weeks, I would stop because it really wasn’t making me happy or I found it way too inflexible.
Setting yourself up for a long term goal and change of lifestyle is much better than setting yourself up for failure with unrealistic goals.
Make Your Weight Loss All About How You Feel (or how you want to feel)
For me it’s about feeling good. It’s about feeling and being healthy, it’s about feeling confident in what I’m wearing. It’s not about being skinny or being popular. It’s also about being energetic, strong and proud that I’ve been able to shift the weight.
I believe the phyologocial battle has been fought and won as I’m over 2 months on my weight loss journey and I’m still losing weight and exercising 6 times a week.
One thing in particular that I’m passionate about if you join me on my journey is the “cheat day”. My cheat day is Saturday where I eat a chocolate bar and have a Chinese meal for dinner. It is this treat that I swear by and something to always look forward to each time Saturday comes along.
I know the above will resonate with you all and hopefully this will help you get your head in the right frame of mind for starting your weight loss journey with this lose 5 pounds in 5 days plan.
Prepare to lose 5 pounds in 5 days : Ready & Set
Weight loss is tough and it’s hard work. I’m not going to beat around he bush about that and this plan while you can lose up to 5 pounds in 5 days is to help you kick start your weight loss journey or if you need to fit in to that dress which is a little bit too tight by the weekend.
Getting you ready to lose 5 pounds in 5 days is important because the process is tough. Being well prepared and having things set up ahead of time will help you succeed.
Your Weight Loss Enemies
I don’t know about you but if there is a bar of chocolate in the larder I will eat it – whether I am hungry or not! So the point of this tip is to remove your go to food that you eat too much of. Be that chocolate, biscuits, cake, chips, crisps. It needs to be removed from your home if you are going to succeed in this plan.
Prepare Your Pantry/Larder
Remove all the temptation, junk food and snacks. Give it away to family or friends – just make sure it is nowhere to be seen and you can’t get your hands on it! This may seem extreme but it is worth it.
Get Your Workplace Ready
If you work in an office it can be very tempting. From treats to nipping out to get fast food for lunch. Plan and prepare your lunches for the full 5 days so you know exactly what you will be eating. I will give you hints/tips in the Meal Plan. By the way the meal plan is very, very easy to follow! Just keep reading!
Start on the Right Day
There is absolutely no point in starting the day before you have an event to attend which involves eating! You are setting yourself up for failure. Instead start in a week that you have no plans to eat out.
Enlist your friends and family
Tell your family and friends what you are doing so they can help and support you on this journey. Ask them to help you on this journey and keep temptation out of the house.
A word about exercise. You will never exercise your way to weight loss alone. Weight loss is about reducing your intake and exercising more. However, what is different to this plan I developed is that exercise is part of it but it’s about fitting exercise in to your every day life without having to go to the gym.
I hate gyms so I developed a walking plan that I could fit round my life. After this kick start plan I have now moved on to working out more but don’t worry about that at the moment. That’s for after the 5 days!
There are several reasons to exercise, of course it is good for us. I started walking because each time I would get up from sitting my bones would ache!
Exercise is also good for increasing muscle. I’m not talking about huge muscles but toning. Muscle actually burns more calories so it is in your interest to do exercise that tones.
Exercise makes you feel better. After starting my walking plan I haven’t looked back. I feel better and – I have to blow my own trumpet here – I look better too.
Of course exercise is personal to you. If you don’t like going to a gym why on earth would you? Find an exercise that works for you. That is why for this plan I have included my walking schedule. Fitting in walking to your daily routine is the best way to get exercise.
As your fitness levels increase you can then move on to the next stage. I am now exercising 6 times a week and walking too. It’s something I really enjoy doing now and because I can see and feel the difference it gives me the motivation to keep going.
Now for the exciting part…
The Meal Plan
This meal plan is very straightforward. You will be fasting for part of the day.
First though I need to talk to you about fasting. Fasting has received some dubious press over the years and if you say to family and friends that you will be fasting part of the day, you will be discouraged.
I would however check with your health care professional before starting this. I would also close your ears to what your family and friends say. The scientific research on fasting is immense and compelling. Fasting puts your body under a little bit of stress and therefore helps it to burn fat.
Fasting though is not for everyone and I understand that. However, if you want to lose 5 pounds in 5 days then it is worth a try.
My personal experience is that fasting works. If you do feel hunger pangs during this then drinking water will get you through it.
